Typhoon season isn’t over and our property is susceptible to damages!
Yes, it is typhoon season once again and we witness how cars floated in flooded streets during the latest typhoon, while houses go under water. How devastating specially for most who had to take a loan and pay amortization in a span of decades just to earn the right to live in their own house and own a car.
To protect your most precious investment, here are tips to keep in mind:
- PAGASA provides ample warning on the storm signal or the degree of water precipitation. If it is expected to be a very wet storm with precipitation levels likely to cause a flood, immediately move your vehicle to a high area. Paying parking fees for a nearby multi-level parking building will save your vehicle from the onslaught of flooded water that may just cause your vehicle to be declared a TOTAL DAMAGE.
- If unable to move your car to a high area and it has been flooded, take the following precautionary measures:
a. Disconnect the battery terminals to prevent short-circuiting.
b. In case your vehicle was submerged up to seat level, do not turn on the engine as this will potentially cause more damage to your vehicle. - Notify your insurance provider within 7 days from the date of occurrence so the in-house adjuster can be mobilized to assess the condition of your vehicle.
- Check your insurance policy if it carries the Roadside Assistance Program. If it does and you are in need of towing services, call our hotline at (02) 8845-1111. You may also reach them via the Standard Insurance FB page where they reply real time.
- If you need to make a claim, you can go to our website at www.standard-insurance.com or talk to our Customer Service Associates at (02) 8845-1111.
